Message Boards for Chronic Pain

By: Dr. Suzanne LaCombe, October 8, 2007.

Healing Well

This busy place has loads of information (including video webcasts) and an active online community for those people coping with diseases, disorders and chronic illness.

Peter Waite is the founder and editor who inspired the volunteer efforts of many people to bring this information together.

PainAid

...is an interactive online community organized by the American Pain Foundation for those suffering from chronic pain and the loved ones who support them. Regularly scheduled chat rooms and discussion boards are available. They even have a Ask the Expert section that's moderated by health practitioners.

Chronic Pain Forum

...this forum is run by Mike and Bev. Unlike many forums this one allows you to post what worked for you. (Apparently, many forums run by corporations don't allow you to post products or services that conflict with their own.)

Psych Central

John Grohol's psychology site is one of the oldest and largest on the Net. This community has been around for a long time and it's a moderated board. Check for the regularly scheduled chats on mental health and relationship issues.

Emotional Freedom Techniques

Free Manual on Reducing Pain

Downloading this manual is easy. Only an email address is required (the PDF is emailed to you). It is a very detailed manual and has proven techniques for reducing pain. If you understand how acupuncture works, then you will have no problem in understanding how EFT works (without the needles of course). See below for more information.

Tip from Therapy

Chronic Pain Scale

If you have trouble communicating the level of pain to your doctor or other health care workers consider this handy pain scale. It more accurately captures the degree of pain you are experiencing.

"We Don't Like to Feel Our Body"

One of the hardest things to do when we're suffering from chronic pain is to feel sensations in our body. However, insights from somatic therapy reveal that by doing so we can actually alleviate the pain.

What's important to remember is to experience our body sensations in small, titrated doses. This allows your autonomic nervous system to process the energy underneath that's holding some of the pain in place.

And, now a word from one of our sponsors, Emotional Freedom Techniques.

chronic pain message boards and eftBe Your Own Shrink?

The body-based benefits of acupuncture are available to everyone--without the needles--using Emotional Freedom Techniques.

Acupuncture has been literally been helping people with chronic pain for centuries. And while it is a recent addition to our health care practices in the West, it has shown to be an excellent non-drug resource especially where western medicine has not been successful.

Download a Free Manual or watch this video on EFT for more information.

To receive the manual and start today, you only require a valid email address (the PDF is emailed to you).

I hope you enjoyed my page on chronic pain message boards. Let me know if you know of another message board that should be included.
