About the MyShrink Advisory Board.

By: Terry McGraw LLB, August 11, 2008.

A website as wide-ranging and timely as MyShrink aspires to be, cannot flourish without the assistance of many different people. Perhaps the most important is the MyShrink Advisory Board, a group of practitioners active in the mental health and related fields who establish standards of quality indirectly for almost all content published on the site.

The MyShrink Advisory Board

This group, all active in the counseling and body therapy fields, collectively has over 50 years of educational and professional experience. Most of them are aware of advances in neuroscience research and their applications to counseling practice, and some actively apply these techniques in their own private practices.

In particular, their extensive experience and expertise help Dr. LaCombe to accurately translate and express breaking-news concepts and applications of neuroscience into plain, jargon-free English.

The Advisory Board is an integral member of the team that brings visitors the latest news and clinical techniques, as well as articles that will educate and promote the value of counseling and support their efforts to make lasting personal changes.

The Advisor's role is to serve as coach and guide, to help the contributors improve and develop their writing.

Members of the Advisory Board have the dual role of coach and quality assurance officer. The role of the reviewer for MyShrink is constructive, particular if the recommendation is not to accept a manuscript. In all cases, the members of the Advisory Board will provide the authors with comments and suggestions that will make a good paper even better.

One of the purposes of the review process is to educate the author in how to write good papers so that future submissions will be even better.

For any website that aspires to take neuroscience and developmental research, organize it, summarize it, and publish it in a form that people find useful, the challenges and opportunities have never been greater than they are today. The volume of information is exploding, the world is shrinking, and digital media are changing the way we read, think, and learn.
