MyShrink Editorial
It is our opionion that the counseling profession is in the midst of a paradigm shift based on the results of thousands of experiments using new technologies. Although the facts about the brain and how it works are getting clearer, the interpretations and implications of those facts (i.e. the theory) have not been definitively verified.
Therefore, please note that many ideas and suggestions on this site are derivations, interpolations or conjecture based on recent and the best I could find child development and neuroscience research. They have not necessarily been rigorously tested. They are a best-guess hypothesis based on what researchers have discovered to date.
MyShrink has a point of view that many share but I acknowledge that not everyone will agree with all that is written here. Every effort is made to include background information and references so you can follow up at your convenience. I also provide many opportunities for you to comment on the content and to share your opinion.
I sometimes vary so far from conventional knowledge that I feel compelled to bring it to your attention. I do so in 'My Personal Musings'. This does not mean there aren't others who agree, but my view may not be widely supported in the academic literature. However it is based on my experience working with clients and my interpretation of the current literature.

This is for those considering psychotherapy, or those already going to therapy or those who have been to therapy in the past and are still trying to figure out what happened!

Well, maybe if there was one moment in your life you thought about being a therapist…but then you sat down and waited for the feeling to pass.
