Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT) was initially developed by European Emil Vodder in the 1930's. It was only after German physician Dr. J. Asdonk successfully tested the techniques of LDT on 20,000 hospital patients to verify its effectiveness, measure its efficiency and find its indications and contraindications that the method became widely used.

More recently, Dr Bruno Chikly of France further advanced the understanding of the physical qualities of the lymphatic system. This therapy involves the palpation of lymphatic flow, identifying the rhythm, direction and quality of the lymph. The main action of LDT is to stimulate the circulation of the lymphatic flow through a gentle, light touch rhythmical massage technique.
