"..and then the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
Anais Nin
Hello and welcome to my web page.
My work is inspired by those who want to create a better connection with themselves and others, to feel relaxed in their own skin and excited about life's possibilities.
- Is your attention too often focused outside of yourself – on the needs and desires of others?
- Do you work too hard to make yourself better, as if who you are is not good enough?
- Are you feeling lost and unmotivated?
- Do anxious feelings hold you back from happiness?
These are some of the concerns that bring clients to my office.
Please feel free to browse the information below and if you have any questions don't hesitate to give me a call on my confidential line at 604 719-5760.
How I Work
Relationships that we don't necessarily consciously remember, our implicit memories, continue to shape our experiencing of the world, our attitudes, expectations, language, as well as our voice, and even body shape and postures. My clinical interest and training focuses on developing this body-mind connection.
Living fully means expanding our capacity to learn and become more emotionally and spiritually present in our own experiences. There is nothing more invigorating than living in fulfilling, validating relationships with parents, partners, and peers.
Yet, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and other manifestation of pain are related to our experiences in our present and/or past relationships. It is for this reason I often see entire families in my practice.
Knowledge, truly embodied, can resource your whole being and ease your discomfort with living. I have witnessed that process many times.
My Personal Reflections
Working on my second Master's degree, I became fascinated with studies of affect, relationships, and human development . As I began to understand therapy, I began to also understand my own relationships, present and past.
I learned how personal issues and problems are functions of our biological and social adaptation. They are our means of emotional surviving, to our present, remembered, or imagined, relational environment. Therapy, I discovered, is a process of learning to re-experience yourself in new ways, and more than mere surviving, it's about creating joy and the feeling of being truly alive.
